Erdoğan addresses cash-counting footage: 'With stacks of money...'

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan connected live to the “Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport Metro Opening Ceremony” at the Presidential Complex. Speaking about the cash-counting footage within the CHP, Erdoğan said, "The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) is not remembered for the works and services it has provided, but for the footage of stacks of money whose destination is unclear."

Erdoğan addresses cash-counting footage: 'With stacks of money...'

President Erdoğan spoke about the cash-counting footage within the CHP during the Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport Metro Opening Ceremony, which he attended via a live connection.

Addressing the cash-counting footage within the CHP, which is currently under investigation, Erdoğan stated, "The İBB is not remembered for the works and services it has provided, but for the footage of stacks of money whose destination is unclear. If you ask them, they say this money was used to purchase a provincial building for the CHP. No one can explain the disproportion between the amount paid and the money shown."

He stated that despite İmamoğlu's claim of having built 13.2 km of metro in response to Murat Kurum, the İBB administration has only built 8 km of metro in 5 years.

"WE WILL COMPLETE TURKEY'S LONGEST RAIL SYSTEM RING LINE"

Highlights from President Erdoğan's remarks are as follows:

"I wish the Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport Metro to be beneficial to our city. Thanks to this line, the journey to 4 stations will take 8 minutes. We are also connecting Arnavutköy to Gayrettepe. Transportation time is reduced to 41 minutes with this metro. We aim to put the Halkalı stage into service within a year. We will complete Turkey's longest rail system ring line.

"ISTANBUL'S METROS ARE AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF WORLD STANDARDS"

Since the opening of our airport alone, we have brought nearly 162 km of rail systems to Istanbul. The total rail system distance has reached 362 km. The majority of these rail systems were built by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. For example, the length of the metro built by the municipality in the last 5 years is only 8 km. All remaining projects are either from the previous period or were implemented by the ministry. There are also projects that have been covered with soil.

Istanbul's metros are at the highest level of world standards. We leave it to you to imagine the state the city would be in if it weren't for these rail system lines, each of which acts as a windpipe for Istanbul's transportation. The projects that the ministry focuses on due to its responsibilities are not enough on their own. The metropolitan municipality must also fulfill its own responsibilities so that problems can be solved through synergy.

"THE PAINFUL PICTURE CAUSED BY THE MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION IS NOT ISTANBUL'S DESTINY"

You can see that there is traffic density near a standstill on the roads in Istanbul. The painful picture caused by the municipal administration is not Istanbul's destiny. They couldn't even manage to maintain a system that worked smoothly and without problems. As long as this mentality is in office, the traffic ordeal will only increase. Istanbul deserves real municipalism in abundance. In Istanbul, there is not only an incompetent, inactive, and service-poor administration, but also a tainted one, just like in '89.

"THE DISPROPORTION BETWEEN THE AMOUNT PAID AND THE MONEY SHOWN..."

The İBB is not remembered for the works and services it has provided, but for the footage of stacks of money whose destination is unclear. If you ask them, they say this money was used to purchase a provincial building for the CHP. No one can explain the disproportion between the amount paid and the money shown. All the explanations made so far have contradicted the previous ones and increased the clouds of suspicion. Those who boast of being 'accounting experts' are silent. Those who have tainted Istanbul with their lack of earthquake preparedness and social municipalism have done a great disservice to the country.

"THE DIRTY DEEDS THAT CHP MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATIONS COULD NOT ACCOUNT FOR..."

Our nation witnessed similar situations in the 1980s and 1990s. Our youth may not remember, but the generation over middle age knows well. In '89, there were huge controversies due to the dirty deeds that CHP municipal administrations could not account for. This CHP caused a scandal known as the İSKİ scandal. In the '94 election, our nation purged all of them and brought us to power. It is as if we are experiencing déjà vu. The names are different, the minds are the same, the disgraces are the same. It is a pity for these cities. After March 31, our cities will return to days of works and services, far from these controversies.

"IT WILL BE FREE UNTIL MARCH 31"

I think it would be appropriate to make this place free until March 31. The current mayor will claim this as his own, too. We need to explain it well so he doesn't claim it. Murat, if you don't look after your property, these people will.
