Erdoğan forgets the repeated Istanbul elections! 'We respected the will that emerged from the ballot box'
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the opening ceremony of the Kağıthane-Gayrettepe section of the Istanbul Airport Metro. Forgetting the Istanbul elections that were repeated in 2019, Erdoğan said, "On the day the election ended, we respected the will that emerged from the ballot box and continued our services from where we left off. This situation is also valid for Istanbul."
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the Opening Ceremony of the Istanbul Airport Metro Kağıthane-Gayrettepe Section.
Giving messages regarding the local elections, Erdoğan forgot the Istanbul elections that were repeated in 2019.
"On the day the election ended, we respected the will that emerged from the ballot box and continued our services from where we left off. This situation is also valid for Istanbul," said Erdoğan, adding, "If Istanbul has not gone from bad to worse today, the biggest reason for this is that we have put our hands under the stone."
Targeting the opposition as well, Erdoğan said, "As the calendar for the March 31 elections begins to run, masks are falling. It is becoming clear who serves their city with love and who wastes their time like the saying 'three acres of garden, lie down and rest Osman'. Some people's knees have started to shake and their hems have started to catch fire."
Here are the highlights from Erdoğan's speech:
Today, we are experiencing the happiness of implementing another project that will lighten the burden of our Istanbul, whose shoulders are practically collapsing due to the increasingly heavy traffic problem.
As you know, last year we held the opening of the Istanbul Airport Kağıthane Metro and offered this important project to the service of our citizens. Today, we are together to hold the opening of the Kağıthane-Gayrettepe section, which connects this line to Gayrettepe.
Thus, we are providing uninterrupted metro transportation between Istanbul Airport and Gayrettepe. The Gayrettepe-Kağıthane Metro, with a total length of 37.5 kilometers, will make the lives of our Istanbulite brothers and sisters exceptionally easier. Our line, which consists of 9 stations and reaches a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, has a daily passenger capacity of 600 thousand people. With the commissioning of our line, the time between Gayrettepe and Istanbul Airport will decrease to 30 minutes, Göktürk-Mahmutbey to 38 minutes, Tekstilkent-Istanbul Airport to 45 minutes, Taksim-Istanbul Airport to 41 minutes, Taksim-Göktürk to 26 minutes, and 4. Levent-Istanbul Airport to 35 minutes. With the commissioning of this line, the length of the completed rail system networks in Istanbul reaches 338.5 kilometers. When we say we will do it, we do it. We do not leave it unfinished.
From my time as mayor, we later came to the government, and just as we built these roads, these high-speed train lines, and high-speed train lines as the Ministry of Transport in the government, we did the same in our Istanbul. But unfortunately, remember what some people did with excavation? You know who it is, I don't need to say it. One of the most important, sensitive, and difficult issues in rail system projects is the signaling system, which we can call the brain of the line. Thank God, with the cooperation of ASELSAN-TÜBİTAK, we are now getting rid of being dependent on others in these areas. TÜBİTAK developed the equipment on the vehicles necessary for the ASELSAN signaling system, the systems to be placed on the lines, and the smart signaling systems to be placed at the station. We are doing it. No imports from outside.
Also, 60 driverless metro vehicles to be used on this line are being produced in the factory in Ankara Sincan Organized Industrial Zone. We are proud to carry out all processes of the Gayrettepe-Airport metro line, from its initial feasibility project to its implementation, with our own domestic engineering and design accumulation. Hopefully, from now on, we will focus on increasing the share of domestic and national technologies in every project we implement, regardless of the field. We will work with determination until we reach the goal of a fully independent Turkey in every subject related to technology, especially the defense industry.
"THOSE WHO LOOK DOWN ON THE NATION ARE DOOMED TO LOSE IN POLITICS"
We are members of a faith that has the understanding that 'he whose two days are equal is in loss'. Our motto in politics is to provide uninterrupted service to the citizens. We see it as our main duty to meet the needs of our cities and find solutions to their problems without looking at what anyone says. In our conception of politics, there is no lordship over the nation, there is servitude. Those who look down on the nation, those who despise the nation, those who behave arrogantly and rudely towards the nation are doomed to lose in politics. Now, hopefully, we will all see these on the evening of March 31.
"WE ARE NOT AFTER THOSE WHO PUT WORDS UPON WORDS, BUT THOSE WHO PUT STONES UPON STONES"
When you take a look at Turkish political history, you will witness countless examples of this. You will see that many ministers, prime ministers, and mayors to whom the nation entrusted authority and handed over the mandate, but who could not do justice to it, have been forgotten on the dusty shelves of the political scene. Likewise, we have countless politicians and statesmen who have established a throne in the hearts of the nation with the services they have brought to their city, district, and country. In the light of these facts, we constantly hold ourselves accountable and ask ourselves every night what we have done for our country, our nation, and humanity today. We desire to leave behind a legacy that will be remembered with goodness and gratitude. In the ups and downs of politics, we have encountered many difficulties, obstacles, injustices, and lawlessness to date. As a brother of yours, as a politician who served as the metropolitan mayor in the Turkey of the 1990s, when the shadow of tutelage fell upon our country like a nightmare, I did not give up in the face of difficulties. I never succumbed to despair. We did not allow anyone to come between us and our love for serving the nation. I always say, we are not after those who put words upon words, but those who put stones upon stones.
We see the prayer 'May God be pleased with him', which our citizen says sincerely, above all kinds of political and worldly calculations. In our understanding, those who really want to provide service to their country and people either find a way or open a way. But they definitely do not become those who are left on the road. Of course, like every servant, we may have shortcomings, faults, and mistakes. Despite all our sincere efforts, all our endeavors, and all our labor, there may be issues that we cannot realize. But no matter what the conditions are, no matter what obstacles come our way, we never give up the struggle to serve the country and the nation.
Without minding the difficulties, without magnifying the problems in our eyes, and without resorting to the convenience of looking for excuses, we continue to walk patiently in line with our Century of Turkey goal. Here, I would like to underline this point once again; In our view, all 85 million of our citizens, regardless of their voting preferences, are equally deserving of service and respect. We have not discriminated against our municipalities according to their political color at any stage of our more than 21 years of government. Throughout the campaign period, we explained what we have done, shared our projects, and expressed our criticisms regarding the opposition with an open heart. On the day the election ended, we respected the will that emerged from the ballot box and continued our services from where we left off. This situation is also valid for Istanbul. If Istanbul has not gone from bad to worse today, the biggest reason for this is that we have put our hands under the stone.
"WE PREVENTED ISTANBUL FROM RAISING THE BANKRUPTCY FLAG"
By bringing much more than the services that fall under the duty of our government to Istanbul, we prevented the city from raising the bankruptcy flag. Now, where are we? Kağıthane, do you remember how the part of this Kağıthane that connects to the Golden Horn flowed as filth? Maybe the youth may not remember, but their mothers and fathers remember this very well. We connected all this filth, the sparkling clean water of the Bosphorus, to here. We connected it to Kağıthane and the Golden Horn. After that, the water here became crystal clear. We did it, when we say we will do it, we do it, and we will do it from now on. We will do it with our 'Murad' (desire/candidate name). But if you want to achieve your 'Murad', you will support our 'Murad'. On one hand, the municipalities, on the other hand, we as the government. We will join hands and we will lift our country up.
IN THE LAST 2 YEARS ALONE, A 51 KM METRO LINE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE SERVICE OF ISTANBULITES
We will lift our Istanbul up. We will lift our Ankara, our Izmir, our Eskişehir, our Konya, our Kayseri, in short, our country's 30 metropolitan cities up. In the last 2 years alone, we have experienced the joy of offering a 51-kilometer metro line to the service of Istanbulites. We have provided an important project like the Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Pendik Metro to the service of the people of Istanbul and our other provinces in the region. Of course, we do not find these sufficient. We are developing solutions to the increasing transportation infrastructure needs and other problems of a city that grows every day like Istanbul.
When the time for the ballot box came, their hems caught fire. It is the first time we see the opposition fearing the race.
AVERAGE TRAFFIC TIME WILL BE 39 MINUTES
Pay attention here! Our goal is to reduce the average traffic time from 64 minutes to 39 minutes, significantly removing traffic as a problem. Traffic in Istanbul will cease to be an issue.
