He said 'Erdoğan had his house surrounded by police': Erbakan's son-in-law confirms Temel Karamollaoğlu's claim

Saadet Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu recently claimed in a live broadcast that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wanted to have Necmettin Erbakan imprisoned in 2006.

Speaking on KRT TV, Karamollaoğlu said, "When Erbakan Hoca was sentenced to prison in 2006, Tayyip Erdoğan had his house surrounded by police. He made a great effort to have him thrown in jail."

Karamollaoğlu's claim, which became a major topic of discussion, was confirmed by Yeniden Refah Party Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Mehmet Altınöz.

Altınöz stated on the KRT TV broadcast, "Yes, it is true. The event Temel Bey described took place in 2006. While there were protection police officers assigned by the Ministry of Interior at our teacher Erbakan's residence, another police team arrived and tried to take our teacher Erbakan away."

"The AK Party opposed Erbakan Hoca while he was alive. Mr. Erdoğan returned from the US saying 'I am the co-chair of the Greater Middle East Project (BOP).' Later, when Erbakan Hoca was sentenced to prison in 2006, he had his house surrounded by police and made a great effort to have him thrown in jail," said Karamollaoğlu, who continued as follows:

"Because he had been sentenced. He was going to take him from his home and, in a way, have him imprisoned to make him look bad. His house was surrounded. At that time, Hasan Kalyoncu went to Tayyip Bey and said, 'If you do this, I will bring this place down on your head. I will not let you survive politically. You cannot do such a thing.' Upon that, Tayyip Bey ensured it was converted to house arrest."
