Erdoğan heads to Germany: Agenda includes Israel and 'hot money'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The meeting, which will take place on Friday, November 17, is expected to address discussions regarding Israel's blockade of Gaza. 

According to TRT Haber, the Scholz-Erdoğan meeting is expected to cover Israel's attacks on Gaza, as well as bilateral relations and Turkey-EU relations. Erdoğan last met with Scholz in person at the G20 Leaders' Summit held in India in September.

The two leaders evaluated the latest situation regarding the start of Israel's attacks on Gaza during a phone call. In their phone call on October 12, Israel's massacres in Palestine were discussed. Ways to resolve the humanitarian crisis were evaluated. Erdoğan and Scholz will meet in person in Berlin this time, two months later. On the other hand, Erdoğan will also hold a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. 

THE SEARCH FOR 'HOT MONEY' CONTINUES

The two leaders' meeting will also address Turkey's EU membership process. An evaluation regarding the EU-Turkey migration agreement is also expected.  Furthermore, the Erdoğan-Scholz meeting will cover relations between the two countries. Germany is one of Turkey's largest trading partners. President Erdoğan's visit is also quite important in this respect. Last year, the trade volume between the two countries was 45 billion dollars. The target for the end of this year is to exceed 50 billion dollars.
