Erdoğan issues FETÖ warning at July 15 ceremony: 'We will not lower our guard'

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the July 15 Commemoration Ceremony held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. In his speech at the ceremony, Erdoğan stated that the FETÖ threat persists and called for no complacency in the fight against the organization.

Stating that the Parliament displayed an "upright stance" against the coup plotters on the night of July 15, Erdoğan expressed his belief that members of parliament would maintain the same solidarity against threats to the national will.

Erdoğan argued that members of the organization continue their activities against Turkey, saying, "Even if 10 years pass, those whose ambitions were thwarted that night are waiting for an opportunity for their insidious plans."

Emphasizing the need to "stay vigilant" in his speech, Erdoğan said, "Let us not forget that we are facing a structure that uses the opportunities of democracy to gain power and points weapons at its own people. If we forget, we will experience the old troubles again. We will stay vigilant and not lower our guard in the fight against the organization."

Regarding the ringleader of the organization, Erdoğan also stated, "The burial of the ringleader in a secret pit 10,000 kilometers away has certainly broken their motivation. But the danger still continues."

Stating that the July 15 attempt targeted Turkey's independence, Erdoğan claimed that the goal was to "revive the Treaty of Sèvres and turn Turkey into a colonial country." Erdoğan stated that this plan was thwarted and that Turkey has once again claimed its independence.
