Erdoğan meets with Greek Cypriot leader Christodoulides: They had coffee and croissants

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA) leader Nikos Christodoulides at the European Political Community (EPC) Summit held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

Although the meeting was not planned, moments of the leaders drinking coffee and eating croissants were reflected in the press. In the photos, Erdoğan and Christodoulides were seen sitting around a low coffee table in a conference hall with other officials.

Deputy Government Spokesperson of the GCA Yiannis Antoniou stated in a post on the social media platform X that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also attended the meeting. According to sources in Athens, the US presidential elections and various international developments were discussed during the meeting.

FIDAN IS GOING TO ATHENS

Following this meeting, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will pay a working visit to Athens at the invitation of Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis. During the meeting between Fidan and Gerapetritis, issues in the Aegean Sea will be addressed, and preparations for the 6th High-Level Cooperation Council meeting, planned to be held in Ankara in 2025, will also be evaluated.

In addition, the dates for the "Political Dialogue" and "Positive Agenda Joint Action Plan" meetings between the two countries will be determined.

GCA LEADER'S WASHINGTON VISIT

On October 30, US President Joe Biden hosted GCA leader Nikos Christodoulides at the White House. With this meeting, the two countries emphasized their decision to elevate their relations to a strategic level, particularly in defense cooperation. With this meeting, Christodoulides became the third GCA leader to be hosted in Washington.
