President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi while the vote counting process for the March 31 Local Elections was ongoing.
The following statement was issued by the Directorate of Communications:
BILATERAL RELATIONS AND PALESTINE DISCUSSED
"Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, held a phone call with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
During the call, bilateral relations between Turkey and Iran, as well as Israel’s attacks on Palestinian territories and the humanitarian situation in the region, were discussed.
President Erdoğan stated during the meeting that it is important to increase efforts to ensure the immediate implementation of the United Nations Security Council’s ceasefire resolution in Gaza, and that Fatah and Hamas must act in unity during this process.
President Erdoğan noted that it is necessary to work together to prevent Israel’s efforts to spread tension across the region."
