Erdoğan's 'Israel' reaction at awards ceremony: 'How are you any different from Hitler?'

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the 100th Anniversary TÜBİTAK and TÜBA Science Awards Ceremony.

Highlights from Erdoğan's remarks are as follows:

"THE BLOOD OF OUR MARTYRS WILL NEVER BE LEFT UNAVENGED"

"The Republic of Turkey is looking to its future with more confidence than ever before. I have no doubt that the century we are in will be the century of our nation and our state.

I want it to be known that the heinous terrorist attacks aimed at putting a barrier in front of Turkey's rise will never stop our sacred march.

12 of our children were martyred, may God have mercy on them. But look, 54 terrorists were neutralized in 36 hours. Because the blood of our martyrs will never be left unavenged.

Like every success, Turkey's successes are not a coincidence. I believe that the biggest share in our country's success is the momentum we have achieved in science. We are not after saving the day, but shaping the future. Since 2002, we have attached importance to the development of the science, industry, and innovation ecosystem across the country.

"WE ARE OBLIGATED TO AIM FOR THE PEAK IN SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH"

There is no province without a university. Our country has become a global actor with the success it has achieved in every field from education to health. We have moved Turkey to a very different point in scientific research. Believing is described as half of success.

Every struggle that lacks an intellectual and scientific dimension is destined to remain incomplete. If we aim for a fully independent Turkey politically, economically, and militarily, we are obligated to aim for the peak in scientific research.

CALL TO SCIENTISTS

We need the support and contribution of all our trained human resources. It is very, very important for our scientists who have completed a certain part of their academic and scientific work abroad and gained knowledge and experience to return to their countries and support Turkey's struggle for development.

"IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM AND HITLER?"

The Israeli massacre in Gaza, which has cost the lives of more than 21 thousand innocent people, mostly children and women, since October 7, has served as a litmus test. From the UN to international media organizations, they all failed in this crisis. Today marks 80 days since the attacks began. For 80 days, all values belonging to humanity have been executed. We watched Israel's Nazi camps in the stadium, didn't we? They used to talk about Hitler in strange ways. How are you any different from Hitler? These people will even make us miss Hitler. Is there any difference between what Netanyahu is doing and Hitler? Hitler was not as rich as this one; this one is richer. He receives support from the West. With this support, they have killed more than 20 thousand Gazans. Germany is still paying the price for Hitler, that's why they have a debt and cannot speak out. We have no such debt."
