Erdoğan's 'MHP' warning at MKYK meeting

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks during his party's MKYK meeting have been revealed.

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, known for his proximity to the government, claimed in his article titled "Normalization will continue with new criteria" that Erdoğan wants the normalization process to continue both domestically and internationally.

It was alleged that Erdoğan warned party members during the MKYK meeting to "avoid harsh debates."

“On the contrary, Erdoğan was a leader who loved harsh debates. But the language of the new process is different,” wrote Abdulkadir Selvi, adding, “Domestically, the normalization process that began with Özgür Özel has not been suspended, even if it has encountered a road accident. It is not a booming normalization. The criterion is normalization without making the MHP uneasy.”

On the other hand, sharing details regarding the photograph of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel chatting with President Erdoğan during the 50th-anniversary ceremonies of the Cyprus Peace Operation, Abdulkadir Selvi wrote that Erdoğan said, “We particularly attach importance to the opposition starting to abandon its old policy of complaining about Turkey to foreigners. As will be remembered, the drifts experienced by the Republican People's Party in foreign policy during the 'Former Chairman' era had reached dimensions that could not be explained by the concept of political competition. To be frank, we find the signs of change in this attitude, which does not befit Turkey and Turkish politics, noteworthy in the name of 'normalization of the opposition.'”
