Erdoğan's shoes sparked controversy: Statement from the Palace

The suit and shoes Erdoğan wore during a program he attended caused a wide stir in public opinion.

While the prices of the items he wore, as well as Erdoğan's new style, were being discussed on social media, İYİ Party MP Turhan Çömez made a post that drew attention to the matter.

Turhan Çömez's post is as follows:

STATEMENT FROM THE DMM

The statement made by the Center for Combating Disinformation, affiliated with the Presidential Communications Directorate, rejected the claims that the product's price was 5,500 Euros and stated that the shoes were from a domestic manufacturer.

The statement is as follows:

'The claims that the shoes worn by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, are a product of a foreign brand and cost 5,550 Euros are a product of disinformation.

The shoes worn by our President do not belong to a foreign brand as claimed, but are entirely the product of a domestic manufacturer. Therefore, the shoes have no connection to the brand or price alleged.

Our President leads the development of our national industry and supports steps to strengthen Turkey's domestic production capacity and eliminate foreign dependency.'
