President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements regarding Köfteci Yusuf, which was not initially on the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's list of imitation and adulterated products but was exposed after the document emerged.

Erdoğan responded as follows to the question: "There is a meatball chain. First, it was said that it was being 'protected,' then it was exposed. Now, people are saying 'an injustice is being done' and so on. That meatball chain is right in the middle of a full-blown controversy. Are you following those discussions? What do you think?"

"There are 724 thousand food businesses in Turkey. These include producers, sellers, and distributors. They are inspected at least once every year by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. This year, the number of inspections approached 1 million. Our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has made it possible to track these electronically in real-time as soon as a problem is detected. In the inspection of the meatball chain you mentioned, non-compliant food was detected at two branches in Ankara. A criminal complaint was filed with the prosecutor's office. There were objection processes. The court initially canceled our Ministry of Agriculture's decision, but when the Ministry appealed this decision, the objections were accepted. Once the judicial process is completed and finalized, this inspection report is published. The administrative actions taken by our Ministry are also subject to judicial review. Everyone has the right to defend themselves. Ultimately, the court makes the final decision, and the Ministry publishes the result of the inspection. These inspections will continue, and they are continuing. In conclusion, the issue of food is a matter that must be taken very seriously."
