Erkan Baş: Now, who backstabbed whom?

TİP Chairman Erkan Baş held his weekly press conference at the TBMM. Erkan Baş made statements on many issues on the agenda, ranging from the imprisonment of TİP Hatay MP Can Atalay and the Constitutional Court (AYM) sending the second violation application regarding Atalay to the General Assembly, to the attack by AKP founder Faruk Koca on referee Halil Umut Meler, the death of motorcycle courier Yunus Emre Göçer caused by the Somali President's son, and from the resistance of Özak Textile workers to the local elections.

"AYM MUST ISSUE A 'VIOLATION' DECISION UNANIMOUSLY"

Baş began his remarks by conveying his get-well wishes to Saadet Party member Hasan Bitmez, who was hospitalized after falling ill following his speech at the TBMM General Assembly, and criticized the government over the issue of justice.

Stating that Turkey has become a country experiencing the most unjust days in its history during the AKP era, Baş used the following expressions;

"We are under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey; in a country where we can normally speak of even the letter 'j' of justice, our Hatay MP Can Atalay, who should be fulfilling the duty given to him by the citizens in this parliament, is still being held captive.

We have just learned that the relevant section of the Constitutional Court has unanimously referred the second violation application, our application regarding the non-implementation of the Constitutional Court's decisions, to the General Assembly.

Of course, the right thing was for the section to accept such a clear violation unanimously. Now there is only one thing that needs to be done, we are calling from here: The Constitutional Court must first and urgently take this violation application onto its agenda and, in the face of the non-implementation of the decision it previously took by a majority vote, must issue a violation decision unanimously, and the game of usurping the people's will by hiding behind various excuses must be put to an end.

I am stating this very clearly. The Constitutional Court must not remain silent against this violation that tramples on the Constitution and does not implement its own decision. Regardless of how they voted before, all members must unanimously record this violation as a decision."

"THE SALT HAS ROTTED"

"We are talking about Can Atalay, but we have always said that our issue is not just to voice the injustice suffered by a Workers' Party of Turkey MP. This judicial coup is actually one of the examples showing that we have reached the point where, in the words of our people, 'the salt has rotted.'

This sense of smell is such a thing that after a while, you get used to that bad smell there and it stops bothering you.

That is why we bring the issue to the agenda every time to show that we will not get used to this. But I will share with you in a moment countless examples of the salt rotting."

"WHERE DO THEY GET THIS AUDACITY?"

Touching upon the fact that referee Halil Umut Meler was punched by Ankaragücü Club President Faruk Koca at the end of the match, Erkan Baş said the following;

"For example, the other night at a football match, while tens of thousands of people were watching in the stands and perhaps millions on their screens, a club president goes down to the field and punches the referee. Those with him kick the referee who fell to the ground. I think this image is now the image everyone has seen in Turkey.

I think you will also remember that gentleman in a suit who kicked a citizen who lost his child in the Soma mine massacre. Now, one of the answers to the question 'Why am I putting Can Atalay on the agenda' connects to each other with a seemingly unrelated topic. How similar they are, aren't they, those two photos? Two individuals basely kicking a person lying on the ground. Where do they get this audacity?

Remember, did that person called Yusuf Yerkel receive any punishment? What punishment? He was subsequently appointed as a commercial attaché to Frankfurt and rewarded. While you arrest Can Atalay, who seeks the rights of the people who lost their children in Soma, and keep him in prison despite being elected as an MP, if you appoint Yusuf Yerkel, who kicked the families whose rights he was fighting for, as a commercial attaché to Frankfurt, if you say 'I am the government, anyone who leans on me can do whatever they want in this country,' then another gentleman, like the Ankaragücü Club President who is himself an AKP founder, comes out and does the same recklessness.

Let us state this clearly. This regime keeps Can Atalay and our friends captive in prison so that Yusuf Yerkels and Faruk Kocas do not get punished, and are even rewarded."

"ARE YOU THE ONES WHO WILL PURIFY SPORTS FROM VIOLENCE?"

Stating that everyone from the President to the district administrator has been taking turns declaring their support for referee Halil Umut Meler and making statements, Baş said:

"Is there anyone who finds these statements sincere? Is there any sincerity in these statements? Is there a single citizen of ours who thinks that they really have a goal of eliminating violence in sports, let alone in the country? Open and look, don't you see the same images of violence in every social event, in demonstrations and protests that are a constitutional right?

Whenever a worker seeks their rights, whenever a miner seeks their rights, don't the same images, the same images of violence emerge in the middle of the street? Then they come out and say they are on the side of the referee who was supposedly attacked. Hey, you are a network that organizes under the name of 'regulation on violence in sports' to enrich Aktif Bank, owned by Çalık Holding, with Passolig, and to profile only the football spectators who raise their voices against you. Are you the ones who will save this country from violence? Are you the ones who will purify sports from violence?"

MESSAGE REGARDING YUNUS EMRE GÖÇER

Reminding that motorcycle courier Yunus Emre Göçer, who was hit by the Somali President's son, lost his life, Erkan Baş said, “The Somali President's son murdered a motorcycle courier, dear Yunus Emre Göçer, who was working to bring bread to his home, in broad daylight. Everyone saw it, it is a clear massacre, a clear murder. What did the government do? One is your partner, one is politically powerful, the other is a motorcycle courier trying to make a living; you kill him, they give him his passport, and you leave for your country. Is this justice? Aren't you ashamed? How do you look people in the face? They call it justice... They put justice in the name of the party, hypocrisy is dripping from every side of them.”

"NOW, WHO BACKSTABBED WHOM?"

Emphasizing the local elections to be held on March 31, Erkan Baş said, “Now alliances will be discussed again, collaborations, power unions will be discussed. There is also the past election, what we experienced in the past election, and what was done to the Workers' Party of Turkey in the past election. I see it as a duty to remind these as well to guide the upcoming process.” Stating that there are manipulators and fraudsters who have infiltrated the government that wants to design politics and the opposition that resembles the government, and that they have developed a concept called 'strategic voting,' Baş reminded that the IYI Party candidate was elected as an MP in Eskişehir with this rhetoric, and then switched to the AKP. Stating that IYI Party's Ankara MP Adnan Beker also resigned from his party and said on a live broadcast, “I voted for Erdoğan in the Presidential election,” Baş asked, “Now, who backstabbed whom?”

"LET THEM INVESTIGATE HOW MANY MORE ADNAN BEKERS THERE ARE"

Stating that this political order must be changed, TİP Chairman Erkan Baş continued as follows:

"We must all shout out loud together what is in our minds and hearts, what is actually in the interests of 99 percent of this country, and we must make an effort for people, our citizens, our brothers and sisters, our friends to gather around those demands, around those principles, and behind what is right.

Every day we say 'Today is not that day,' 'This election is not that election,' 'Let's turn a blind eye to this for now,' we will continue to face such fraud. That is why we said we are open to collaborations while going to the local elections, we said we are open to power unions, but it has once again emerged that we must put the citizen's interest, the country's interest, and defending the right and the just under all circumstances and conditions above everything else.

And one more thing, these polling companies... I exclude those who do their job well, of course, but if there is a courageous polling company, I have a request. Let them conduct research among the MPs elected from the ranks of the so-called opposition and let's see how many more Adnan Bekers there are?

Among those who became MPs with the votes of opposition voters, how many people are doing what they told the public during the Presidential election? I am sharing that we want to see that too."
