Ertuğrul Özkök's response to Kılıçdaroğlu on the 'Metropoll poll': 'This anger you cannot suppress...'
T24 columnist Ertuğrul Özkök, following former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's signal of a potential candidacy, recalled that the CHP is now 5 points ahead of the AKP in the latest Metropoll survey, stating, "Furthermore, this anger you cannot suppress, this inability to come to terms with the situation, is leading you to make major mistakes."
Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, in a television program he attended, signaled a potential candidacy by saying, "If the delegates nominate me as a candidate for chairman, then we will say, let the bravest step forward."
T24 columnist Ertuğrul Özkök reacted to Kılıçdaroğlu's statements in his column today.
"A CHAIRMAN WHO LOST THE ELECTION"
The relevant section of Özkök's column is as follows:
"In that speech, he continues to accuse Özgür Özel and Ekrem İmamoğlu without naming them, still talking about being 'stabbed in the back.'
Moreover, he says all of this by distorting the events that have taken place before our eyes over the last year and a half.
The chairman who lost the election tells us...
(*) Yes... he says;
I did not want to be the presidential candidate, my circle forced me to...
And we say;
No one forced you, you forced yourself.
"IT WAS NOT YOU, BUT YAVAŞ AND İMAMOĞLU WHO WERE AHEAD IN THE POLLS"
(*) He says;
The subject of candidacy was not discussed at the Table of Six?
We all know that it wasn't that it wasn't discussed, it was that it wasn't allowed to be discussed, it was deliberately not brought up and left to the final session, and a fait accompli was created there.
We all know that Meral Akşener was right on at least one issue.
In the speeches she made outside, she always said, "We must find an electable candidate."
(*) Mr. Kemal says;
All the polls said I was the lucky one.
We all know that in all the polls, Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu appeared to be receiving more votes than him.
"YOU LOST THE ELECTION YOU HELD WITH THE DELEGATES"
(*) He says;
The subject of 'change' was suddenly brought up outside the party to stab me in the back.
We all say;
Sir, where was it supposed to be brought up?
Is the grand convention not the most legitimate platform where such a subject would be discussed?
By whom was this discussion started while heading into the elective convention?
Was it not by the party's members and mayors...
What is wrong with that?
"THOSE WHO WON AT THE CONVENTION ALSO WON THE ELECTION"
In the end, you lost the election at a convention where the delegates elected during your chairmanship cast their votes.
This is a situation for the CHP to be proud of, not to be beaten up over.
While the despotic rule of absolute leaders is the case in other parties, the chairmanship in the CHP changed hands through an election...
In fact, "change" began with the party creating this difference in Turkish politics.
The anger inside you is putting you in a terribly ugly and unfair position.
Those who won at the convention you lost also won the election and local power on March 31.
So it seems those who did not like him forced him to be a candidate.
At the very least, those who love him should remind him of the results of the March 31 election.
Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu, the new management that won at the convention you lost, gave the AKP its first election defeat in 22 years on March 31.
More importantly, it made the CHP the leading party.
More importantly than that, by creating a very strong local power against the central government, it gave the people in the country who have been made to feel "You are a white minority" for 22 years the confidence that "We are also citizens of this country"...
METROPOLL POLL
Moreover, this is not over...
The May poll by Metropoll, one of the research companies that best predicted the last election, shows that if a parliamentary election were held today, CHP votes would exceed 35 percent, and the CHP is 5 points ahead of the AKP.
Furthermore, this anger you cannot suppress, this inability to come to terms with the situation, is leading you to make major mistakes.
What are you trying to do by saying, "One does not negotiate with this government, one struggles against it"?
By saying "One does not negotiate with this government, one struggles against it," you are trying to torpedo the policy of softening.
Yet, polls reveal that 64 percent of the public supports the new CHP management's "softening" policy.
The rate of those like you who say, "Let's not negotiate, let's fight," is 12 percent...
And a large portion of that consists of disgruntled radical Islamists and radical MHP supporters.
But you, not even 2 months after the March 31 success, have entered into a destructive effort.
Go ahead...
There is no harm in it.
You won't be able to achieve anything anyway."
