Explosive allegation regarding Murat Çalık: Did the Forensic Medicine Institute tamper with the report?

Speaking during the deliberations of the Draft Law on Amendments to Certain Laws Related to Health and Decree Law No. 663 at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez made a striking allegation. Çömez claimed that the hospital report belonging to the imprisoned Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık had been falsified by the Forensic Medicine Institute.

"THIS IS NOT A MISTAKE, THE DOCUMENTS WERE INTENTIONALLY ALTERED"

The official report issued by the İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital states that Mehmet Murat Çalık is suffering from "AML," or Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He has also been diagnosed with lymphoma. Çömez emphasized that the "blast count" in this report was stated as 4-5 percent, and that this value indicates a relapse of the cancer.

However, according to Çömez, the Forensic Medicine Institute distorted the report by consciously changing this rate to "3-4 percent." Çömez reacted by saying, "If it is 3-4, the disease has not relapsed, but if it is 4-5, it has. Playing with these numbers is playing with a person's life."

According to the information provided by Çömez, Çalık has lost 20 kilograms since entering prison. It was stated that he has developed neutropenia and leukopenia, meaning his immune system has collapsed. While the report from the Ministry of Health hospital clearly reveals this situation, it was claimed that the Forensic Medicine Institute ignored the severity of the illness.

"THE CONSCIENTIOUS RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS SCANDAL IS YOURS"

Further intensifying his allegations, Çömez issued a call to the Minister of Health and the Minister of Justice:

"Find out who committed this falsification at the Forensic Medicine Institute. This is not a mistake; this is a scandal. This is a deliberate attempt to send a person to their death. If Mr. Çalık continues to remain inside under these conditions, unfortunately, he may not leave the prison alive. In that case, you will bear the conscientious and legal responsibility for it."
