Explosive remarks from Gökhan Günaydın to Erdal Beşikçioğlu! 'The man is using drugs...'
YENİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın made striking statements regarding Erdal Beşikçioğlu, who was arrested and suspended from office.
YENİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın made statements regarding CHP Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu, who was arrested as part of an operation targeting Etimesgut Municipality and subsequently suspended from office by the Ministry of Interior.
Responding to questions from Şule Aydın on Onlar TV, Günaydın evaluated the discussions that began following Beşikçioğlu's arrest and reports that his drug test came back positive.
Günaydın argued that the private lives of individuals holding public office should also be evaluated in conjunction with their public responsibilities.
Günaydın stated, "The man is using drugs. The mayor is using, your deputy mayor is using. What is going on, my friend? How are you performing your public duty, I wonder? I cannot say 'this is his private life'."
Noting that individuals entering politics must act more carefully, Günaydın said, "If you have entered politics, there are conditions to politics. Especially the conditions of today's politics. You will act accordingly."
Continuing his statement, Günaydın said, "Isn't it our right to expect a person to keep themselves in check, both for their private life and their public life?"

EARLY ELECTION AND CONSTITUTION CLAIMS
In the remainder of the program, Günaydın also alleged that the AKP has preparations for a new constitution and a plan for an early election. Making evaluations regarding the YENİ Party's position as the main opposition, Günaydın drew attention to the number of votes required in Parliament for a constitutional amendment or an early election decision.
''WHOEVER GIVES THOSE 30 VOTES IS SELLING THE FUTURE OF THE COUNTRY''
In the program, Günaydın alleged that the AKP has a new constitution and early election plan. Günaydın said, ''The crux of the matter comes down to this: Is there an ambition within all of this for the AKP and Erdoğan to extend their power? Where? 1 to bring a constitutional proposal to Parliament, 2 to bring an early election to Parliament. How many votes does it need? 360 votes. The votes provided by the AKP, MHP, and HÜDA PAR total 330. In that case, anyone who gives those 30 votes, regardless of their name or title, means they are selling the future of the country for their own small gains. Therefore, by attacking the YENİ Party, by breaking our rising momentum since the CHP, every movement that polarizes, prevents the main opposition from working, and strives to disperse it is actually trying to take over Turkey's future.''
