Extraordinary session in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey: Yaşar Güler and Hakan Fidan to attend

Military and diplomatic developments following the attacks carried out by the US and Israel against Iran are being addressed with a special agenda in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler are expected to attend the session and brief members of parliament on the developments.

The opening of the meeting was conducted by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş. In his speech, Kurtulmuş pointed out that the current geopolitical crisis environment should not be viewed as a "temporary situation," stating that the existing international order has entered a serious process of dissolution.

CRITICAL MEETING AT THE TBMM

In his statement, Kurtulmuş said, "The developments experienced today can never be evaluated as a temporary crisis. The international system has entered a severe process of dissolution. In such times, the heaviest price is always paid by civilians, as it has always been. The current picture should be evaluated in its entirety, not in pieces. Speaking in such periods is a matter of conscience."

In his opening speech, Kurtulmuş also emphasized that the military operations taking place in the region have gone far beyond being a classic security measure, stating, "An ordinary military operation has exceeded security measures to an inexplicable extent. Silence is the refuge of oppression. The Republic of Turkey cannot remain silent in such times; our Veteran Assembly cannot remain silent in such times."

Pointing to the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in his speech, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly called on the international community to urgently end the attacks. "The growth of the fire draws in those who watch it from afar. The immediate cessation of attacks is a necessity for everyone today. The diplomatic traffic put forward by Turkey needs to be evaluated within this framework," he said.

It is stated that the statements to be made and the summary reports to be presented by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler at the critical session are important for understanding the effects of the developments on Turkey and the region. The ministers are also expected to answer questions from members of parliament in the later hours of the session.
