Fatih Atik: A new single-story building has been constructed for Öcalan on İmralı

TGRT Haber Ankara Representative Fatih Atik has claimed that a new area has been created within the prison on İmralı Island, where Abdullah Öcalan is held. Atik stated that the area in question is a single-story building and that Öcalan has begun using it “like an office.”

In his assessment during a TGRT Haber broadcast, Atik noted that a place described as a “new residence” has been built for Öcalan on İmralı, suggesting that certain meetings could be held there.

During the broadcast, Atik argued that Öcalan is conducting his work in this new area within the prison and claimed that communication facilities have also been improved. Atik said, “A new area, a new single-story building, has been constructed for Öcalan inside the prison on İmralı Island. We had already mentioned that he is conducting his work there as if it were an office and that communication facilities have been improved. Now, he is talking about meeting with certain journalists and politicians.”

Responding to the question, “Has the building been built, or is it going to be built?” Atik stated that the building has been completed within the prison, adding, “It was built inside İmralı. I understand that a single-story building was constructed. He is already using it. He is using the new place like an office. That was the information that reached us.”

There has been no confirmation or statement from official authorities regarding Atik’s remarks as of yet. The claim has surfaced at a time when discussions regarding the meetings allegedly to be held on İmralı and the conditions of Öcalan are ongoing.
