Fatih Erbakan calls on opposition to unite under one roof: Signal of a new era in alliances
Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan has invited opposition parties to unite under a common alliance, signaling that an important step needs to be taken in politics.
Yeniden Refah Party leader Fatih Erbakan made critical assessments regarding the agenda in an interview with İlker Karagöz on NOW TV. Erbakan called for cooperation from the IYI Party in particular, as well as the DEVA Party, the Future Party (Gelecek Partisi), and the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi), in order to resolve the fragmentation in the political arena.
Stating that he held meetings with citizens and tradespeople in the Bozüyük district of Bilecik before his party's congress, Erbakan expressed the public's discomfort with the current political landscape. Sharing his impressions from the field, Erbakan said, "From taxi drivers to tradespeople and retirees, everyone is reactive and wants change. They say, 'We will vote for you if you are not with the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı).' They say, 'Do not ever be with the People's Alliance.'"
Addressing the economic difficulties, Erbakan stated that citizens are struggling against rising living costs. Drawing attention to the increase in food prices in particular, Erbakan said, "It is not possible for the nation to be satisfied with food prices and vote for the People's Alliance again. A single piece of the Medina dates recommended by our President costs 40 liras. Even if a citizen buys 20-lira dates to avoid buying those, they are forced to exceed the daily fitra amount announced by the Diyanet. One must have a conscience."
Erbakan's invitation to the opposition to join forces has brought up questions about whether it will open the door to a new alliance between political parties in the coming period. This statement is considered to be a reflection of the expectations and demands of voters, particularly those in the opposition base.
