Green light for an alliance from Fatih Erbakan

Fatih Erbakan made evaluations regarding the agenda at the Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK-YDK) Provincial Coordinators and Provincial Presidents Meeting held at the National Youth Association Headquarters. Speaking on the occasion of the third anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes before the meeting, Erbakan emphasized the great pain caused by the disaster. Reminding that approximately 50 thousand people lost their lives and 150 thousand citizens were injured, Erbakan said, "May God have mercy on them. May the status of our earthquake martyrs be high. We once again convey our condolences and get-well wishes to our nation. Of course, the decree is from God. However, it is up to us to take precautions."

Sharing striking data regarding the country's economy, Erbakan described the current practices in Turkey as a "debt-interest-hike-tax economy" and pointed out that the resources allocated for the salaries of millions of retirees are equal to the interest the state pays in just 15 days. "You give the resources you allocated to increase the salaries of millions of retirees to interest in 15 days," he said.

Drawing attention to the inadequacy of the minimum wage and the fact that the poverty line has exceeded 100 thousand liras, Erbakan reiterated his criticisms of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), especially regarding inflation calculations. "I also want to touch upon the inflation game that TÜİK plays every year. We are truly facing a game that steals the rights of the nation, the rights of the laborer. We had previously announced the name of TÜİK as the 'Institute of Statistics That Will Not Upset Mr. Tayyip', and now unfortunately it has become an inflation adjustment institute," he shared his view.

Furthermore, he pointed out that individual indebtedness in Turkey is increasing at a great speed and that credit card debts exceed the payment power of many people. Emphasizing that in addition to the borrowing of the state and the private sector, society is also drowning in debt, Erbakan stated that the debt to banks, which was 6 billion liras when the AK Party came to power, has risen to 5.7 trillion liras today.

Touching on foreign policy issues, Erbakan reacted to the US stance towards Venezuela and Iran with the following words: "Now it has set its eyes on Iran and is trying to swallow Iran as well. American President Trump is making threats by saying, 'We have a larger navy next to Iran than we have in Venezuela.' Israel is constantly pulling on Trump's coattails, saying, 'Intervene in Iran.' America's Central Command, CENTCOM, is deploying the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln right next to Iran. Of course, in the face of such a picture, we express that we stand with our friendly and brotherly Iran."

Expressing his concerns regarding the Peace Council planned to be established in Gaza and Turkey's possible role, Erbakan stated that it would be in the country's interest for Turkey not to take part in such an formation. "I am calling out to the President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the authorities from here: we cannot be in such a plan as the Republic of Turkey. It is for the good of our nation and our country that you never take part in this council and withdraw from this council," he said.

On the other hand, pointing to the necessity for the state to clarify the allegations regarding Turkey that have come to the agenda in the Jeffrey Epstein file in the US, Erbakan emphasized that the allegations that Turkish children were taken to the island and that serious financial transfers were made must be investigated.

At the end of the meeting, Erbakan also answered journalists' questions about a third alliance. Stating that as a party, they want to respond to the need for a political alternative, Erbakan continued: "We see in the research conducted that more than 30 percent of voters in Turkey are undecided. For this reason, as you know, it is expressed that the biggest party in Turkey is the party of the undecided. Here, the voter is clearly giving a message to society. They are neither satisfied with the current government, they want change. But they also do not want the main opposition party to come in its place. They are not satisfied with that either.

Therefore, society is actually looking for an exit, a third way, an alternative and hope with a 30-35 percent undecided voter base and a voter base that is not undecided but reluctantly votes for the existing parties, the ruling party or the main opposition. We have expressed that we are ready to put our hands under the stone as the New Welfare Party for this to be put forward.

However, the key point here is that we think that parties with voter bases close to each other and discourses close to each other coming together, especially parties of Milli Görüş origin coming together, will create a serious alternative and a serious synergy."
