Fatih Erbakan: 'Shutting down social media platforms is the state's most natural right'

Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan was a guest on Armağan Çağlayan's program on Ekol TV.

While Erbakan stated that shutting down social media platforms if they threaten national security is the state's most natural right, he also expressed that such closures only offer temporary solutions.

'DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL SOCIAL MEDIA...'

Responding to a question regarding the access ban imposed on Instagram, Erbakan said that shutting down social media is not an effective solution and that access to these platforms continues through various software. Stating that permanent solutions must be produced for this reason, Fatih Erbakan noted that domestic and national social media platforms should be developed, and that joint platforms could even be established with other oppressed countries.

Stating that the successes in the domestic and national defense industry should also be reflected in the field of social media, Erbakan said, "Our domestic and national contributions in the defense industry are recording serious developments under the leadership of Aselsan. The reflection of these successes on social media and the creation of domestic social media platforms could be important steps that can be taken in this regard."

INCIRLIK BASE SHOULD BE CLOSED

Erbakan also made criticisms regarding military bases, using the expressions, "I think bases like Incirlik Air Base and Kürecik Radar Station should be closed. What benefit do these bases have for us?" He added that the closure of these bases would be an important step in terms of a domestic and national stance.
