WE SAVED THE MUNICIPALITY FROM THIS COST

Making a statement regarding the municipality's debts and some specific situations they identified, Mayor Duran said he leaves it to the public's discretion that the municipality had a debt of 108 million liras despite generating 112 million TL in revenue from real estate sales in the previous term.

Stating that when they took office, they discovered that 450 thousand TL was being paid monthly for 5 rented vehicles, including the official car, Duran noted that their first act was to cancel the rental contracts, saving the municipality from this cost.

"IT IS AN INDICATOR OF HOW BADLY IT WAS USED"

Duran stated that they have taken the necessary initiatives to open the idle Değirmen Cafe for service by April 23, adding, "There is a tragic issue; the tables and chairs of Değirmen Cafe were found in a coffeehouse in Tırmısın Neighborhood for the election. This is an indicator of how badly the municipality's resources were used during the election."

Noting that when he took office, they saw that there were not even enough trash bins in the district, Duran said they received 35 trash bins from the Muratpaşa Municipality upon request.

"A TREASURY-OWNED PLOT WAS SECRETLY..."

Stating that they identified that 5 of the plots sold by the municipality in 2023 were focused on a single family, Duran said, "We saw that there was a public loss. We will definitely follow up on this. We do not think it is a coincidence that the same family bought 4 shops in the industrial zone and that a plot belonging to the Treasury in the industrial zone was secretly channeled toward the same family. As a municipality, we will follow up on this."

"THESE DEBTS WILL NOT BE OUR WAILING WALL"

Noting that the Demre Municipality will not make sales during his term, but rather work on generating income, Duran spoke as follows:

"I am talking about vehicles. Some sales regarding these debts may occur in the coming period. But we will not rent vehicles based on whim, and we will not make such astronomical sales. These debts will not be our wailing wall either. We are in front of the cameras because we said, 'We will explain the situation, debt, and actions of the municipality from the moment we take office.'"

"PAYING HIGH SALARIES TO SOME FRIENDS AND..."

Noting that they identified that municipal personnel were assigned to election offices and election tours during the election process and that these personnel were paid double salaries, Duran said, "It is right to pay the price to people who put in the effort. But it is not fair to pay high salaries to some friends from the municipality while other friends are victimized in this regard."
