Özgür Özel's first comment on the 3,000 lira retiree bonus
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel attended a public meeting held in the Bergama district square as part of his election campaign. There, he commented on the 3,000 lira holiday bonus for retirees announced by AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan.
Özel attended a public meeting in Bergama. Introducing his party's İzmir Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Cemil Tugay and Bergama mayoral candidate Tanju Çelik, Özel noted that the AKP won the previous local elections in Bergama, but that they have fielded a different mayoral candidate today.
Stating that the person elected by Bergama was not nominated, Özel said, "It is as if they have appointed a trustee. There is a collective bargaining agreement in the municipality, the incumbent mayor is nowhere to be found. The AK Party's candidate is conducting the collective bargaining negotiations."
Pointing out that CHP's Bergama mayoral candidate Tanju Çelik is a pediatrician and a son of the district, he spoke as follows:
"The CHP is the home of your fathers and grandfathers. The CHP is the paternal home where everyone is born into. Everyone knows that if I am in a tight spot, if I am in need, the soup in the paternal home is always boiling. The victimized villager in Kozak Plateau, the worker who cannot make ends meet with the minimum wage, the retiree who cannot make ends meet with a 10,000 lira pension, the paternal home is here.
Your place is on our heads. The title deed of the paternal home belongs to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. This paternal home belongs to all of us. I invite everyone who is a victim, oppressed, or dissenting to unite in the paternal home.
We do not want to keep anyone away. If we could not form an alliance at the table, we will form it at the ballot box in Bergama. I invite all democrats in Bergama to unite."

FIRST COMMENT ON THE RETIREE BONUS AMOUNT
Touching upon the increase of the retiree holiday bonus from 2,000 lira to 3,000 lira, Özel said that this bonus is very little given the current cost of living.
Asking citizens to show a yellow card to the government on March 31 and support his own candidates, Özel said, "If you vote, these things will continue like this, but if you show the yellow card, if you say 'I am the boss,' if you say 'The knife is at the bone,' let's see if they listen to your voice or not?"
Regarding the landslide at the mine in Erzincan, Özel also stated, "Now, the eyes and ears of all of Turkey are on the disaster in İliç. Look, a gold mine, soil piled up for years, cyanide in the soil, and now it has slid away, taking 9 of our lives with it. Hopefully, they will return; one should never lose hope in God, but with every passing minute, our hopes are fading. It took them away. Perhaps the entire geography will be poisoned with cyanide due to the rain."
