First response from AKP to Özel's remarks on Erdoğan! 'The scandals erupting from his party...'

AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made a statement on his social media account regarding the remarks made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel directed at AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Çelik included the following statements in his post:

"CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has no political activity other than trying to cover up the scandals and corruption erupting from his party. For this reason, he can understand neither domestic political developments nor foreign policy.

Even from within his own party, messages telling Özgür Özel to 'clean up the party' are being expressed openly to the public. The process that began with 'CHP members reporting other CHP members' has become a matter for the judiciary. Özgür Özel's attitude toward these grave allegations, which are voiced by CHP members themselves, consists merely of taking refuge in political sophistry. While all of this is evident, Özgür Özel's attempt to mention our President's name alongside gangs and criminal organizations is an insolence that once again shows he has lost his way.

Our President's name always stands on the 'right side of history' and at the 'center of legitimate politics.' Özgür Özel, on the other hand, makes his own name the patron of the networks exposed by CHP members themselves in every speech he gives. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel needs to address definitions like gangs and criminal organizations to the networks erupting from within the CHP.

Directing at our President, our AK Party, and our People's Alliance what he should be saying to the factions within his own party shows that his 'political navigation' problem has reached grave dimensions.

As the CHP Chairman, Özgür Özel's primary task should be to 'clean up the party' by first listening to the real CHP members within his own party. The current account deficit regarding honesty cannot be closed with political wordplay."
