First statement from CHP's Malatya candidate Veli Ağbaba!

As the local elections approach, political parties continue their efforts to determine their candidates.

The Republican People's Party (CHP) Central Executive Board (MYK), which met yesterday, decided to nominate Veli Ağbaba for the Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayoralty. Following his nomination, Veli Ağbaba made his first statement.

"I ACCEPTED THE CHAIRMAN'S PROPOSAL"

"I received a special statement from CHP Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Veli Ağbaba. 5-6 polls have been conducted in Malatya, and Veli Ağbaba's name has come out very high. Veli Ağbaba said, 'I accepted the Chairman's proposal. Malatya and my party have made me a member of parliament since 2011.'"

'I AM GOING TO PAY MY DEBT TO BOTH MY PARTY AND MALATYA'

"'I am going to pay my debt to both my party and Malatya. I hope to lift Malatya up together with my fellow citizens. I will hoist the CHP flag,' he says. It is difficult to take Malatya from the AK Party. Because the AK Party receives 60-70 percent of the votes. It is difficult, but Veli Ağbaba is the best candidate from the CHP."

WHAT IS THE LATEST SITUATION IN MALATYA?

The AKP, which has won in Malatya for the last three terms, received 68.47 percent of the votes in the 2019 elections.

The AKP was followed by the CHP with 23.23 percent and the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi) with 5.31 percent, respectively.

The HDP ranked fourth with 1.47 percent.
