First support for arrested Furkan Bölükbaşı comes from AKP

Furkan Bölükbaşı, who was detained and subsequently arrested on charges of 'assassination and physical attack against the President' due to a social media post about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has received support only from Mücahit Birinci, who resigned from the AKP.

Following Bölükbaşı's arrest, it was noted that none of the politicians who had previously supported his posts spoke out. However, Mücahit Birinci, who left the party after being referred to the AKP Istanbul Provincial Disciplinary Board with a request for permanent expulsion, stood up for Bölükbaşı.

In a statement on social media, Birinci expressed his reaction by saying, "We have formidable resistors, Islamist journalists, writers, and human rights defenders. A friend of ours is detained and arrested for a crime he did not commit. Where is this crowd? Can they make a single objection?"

Birinci continued his criticism of those who remained silent, stating, "Can they not even say, 'I hate Furkan, but this is not right, brother'... Everyone is concerned with maintaining their position. For heaven's sake, don't like the guy, but at least make an objection..."
