First visit completed after dissolution decision! Öcalan's message announced

Following the PKK's announcement of its decision to dissolve itself, the DEM Party İmralı Delegation went to İmralı Island today for the first time to meet with Abdullah Öcalan.

According to a statement made by the DEM Party Press Office, the party's İmralı Delegation member Pervin Buldan and lawyer Özgür Erol went to İmralı Island to visit PKK leader Öcalan.

Since the beginning of the process, the DEM Party İmralı Delegation had visited İmralı 4 times to date, on December 28, 2024, January 22, February 27, and April 21. Today's meeting marks the first meeting since the PKK announced its decision to dissolve itself on May 12.

FIRST VISIT COMPLETED

The first visit after the dissolution decision has been completed. The party's İmralı Delegation member Pervin Buldan and lawyer Özgür Erol, who went to İmralı Island, have returned from the visit.

STATEMENT RELEASED

The first statement has come from the DEM Party delegation that went to İmralı Island and met with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the PKK terrorist organization.

The statement included the following expressions:

"To the press and the public,

As the DEM Party İmralı Delegation, we held a meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı Island on May 18, 2025. During the meeting, Mr. Öcalan conveyed the following message to the public:

It remains a regret in my heart that I could not speak with Sırrı Süreyya Önder one last time. He has a valuable memory. It must be kept alive. He was a wise person for Turkey.

We will not let his absence be felt.

There is a need for a new contract based on the law of brotherhood.

The things we are doing represent a major paradigm shift.

The nature of the Turkish-Kurdish relationship is entirely different; what has been damaged is the sibling relationship.

Siblings fight, but one cannot exist without the other. We are clearing the traps and mines that have damaged this relationship one by one, and we are repairing the broken roads and bridges.

I extend my thanks to the intellectuals who have conveyed their messages and wishes of solidarity to me and the peace and brotherhood process we have developed through our delegation, specifically in the persons of Alain Badiou and Slavoj Zizek. I hope we meet in joint international and socialist efforts."
