Following IYI Party's objection, those remarks were removed from the TBMM records

DEM Party Mardin Deputy George Aslan, in his speech at the TBMM General Assembly on June 18, drew attention to the decline of the Christian population during the Ottoman era by referring to the events of 1915.

Aslan asked, "In 1915, three million of the Ottoman Empire's 13 million population consisted of Christian peoples.

Today, in 2025, while Turkey's population has reached 86 million, why is the Christian population expressed in the tens of thousands?"

He posed these questions and questioned the situation.

Furthermore, he criticized Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş for having a monument built for Talat Pasha and called for a sincere confrontation regarding the events that took place in 1915.

Following these remarks, IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Buğra Kavuncu announced in a statement on social media that Aslan's expressions had been removed from the TBMM records.

Kavuncu stated, "We had submitted our petition regarding this individual, who slanders the Turkish nation, to the Speaker of the TBMM and all parties. The relevant person's words were removed from the records, but the fact that there is no penalty for the slander is a separate absurdity. We will continue our struggle for the honor of the Turkish nation."
