Former AKP member reacts sharply to Numan Kurtulmuş's PKK statement: 'Grant me patience...'

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, who chairs the commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as part of the second resolution process dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey,' sparked controversy with his statement: "If the National Security Council decides that the PKK is no longer an armed organization, it would strengthen the legal basis for this issue."

This remark drew a reaction from former AKP MKYK member Mücahit Birinci.

Quoting Kurtulmuş's statement, Birinci wrote in his post: "There is no power or strength except in God. I have taken refuge in You; grant me patience and relief, O Lord!"

Birinci had recently been referred to the disciplinary board by the AKP Istanbul Provincial Presidency with a request for his permanent expulsion, after which he resigned from his party.

BIRINCI'S RESIGNATION FROM THE AKP AND SUBSEQUENT EVENTS

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel alleged that Mücahit Birinci, who has held various positions in the AKP in the past, visited Murat Kapki, who is imprisoned in connection with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) investigation, and during this visit, Birinci placed a 1.5-page document in front of Kapki and said, "You will sign this, and you will also pay 2 million dollars, and that is how you will get out of here."

Following Özel's bombshell revelation regarding the 'İBB exchange,' an investigation was launched into the matter, and the AKP referred Birinci to the disciplinary board with a request for his permanent expulsion.

Birinci announced his resignation from the AKP before the decision regarding him was finalized.

Lawyer Birinci, for whom the Ministry of Justice granted permission for an investigation, was recently summoned to testify as a suspect.

Following his statement to the prosecutor's office, Birinci was referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for judicial control measures, including a travel ban and a requirement to sign in at a police station.
