Former CHP MP Öğüt: "I see Özgür Özel one step ahead"

The final stretch has been reached in the election for the CHP chairmanship. As delegates head to the polls to choose between Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel, former CHP MP Kadir Gökmen Öğüt evaluated the ongoing congress process.

Speaking to Ercan Deniz Küçük from 12punto.com.tr, Öğüt said the following:

"I watched from the stands. The morning session was important, the perspective from the stands. I saw Mr. Özgür a few votes ahead. Perhaps it could be the opposite, but it felt like Mr. Özgür would win. Other than that, I cannot say much; it proceeded in a civilized manner, apart from a few boos. It is not pleasant to boo the Chairman. 

I am expecting something focused on the local elections. How will we win the local elections? If the current chairman wins; there is that saying, 'if the chairman wins, other districts will also be lost, we will be very weak.' They will work with strong personnel; Özgür has already promised this. But I think the chairman will not be able to make the loose appointments of the past."
