It has emerged that Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu exchanged letters with PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan as part of the disarmament process. According to Karar columnist Ahmet Taşgetiren, the DEM Party delegation informed Davutoğlu, who responded to the letter from İmralı, that a new letter is on the way.
Karar newspaper columnist Ahmet Taşgetiren wrote that Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu has been exchanging letters with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan as part of the recently conducted “Terror-Free Turkey” process.
According to the information provided in Taşgetiren’s column dated July 15, 2025, Davutoğlu responded to a letter that arrived from İmralı, and he was informed that a new letter would be delivered to him.
According to a notable section in Taşgetiren’s article, the DEM Party delegation delivered a letter from İmralı to Davutoğlu. It was reported that in the letter, Öcalan referred to Davutoğlu, stating, “He is one of those who knows these issues best.”
The article stated that after receiving the letter, Davutoğlu responded to it, and the delegation informed him that “a new letter from İmralı will arrive.”
Taşgetiren continued his article as follows:
“I can say that Davutoğlu is full of the country’s issues. Especially in matters with such international dimensions, his intellectual world possesses a sensitivity that transcends party boundaries. He conveys his thoughts to every place he can reach.”
