Allegations of a 'primary election crisis' in the CHP: Party leadership takes action
The CHP leadership has taken action due to the risk of low turnout in the primary election scheduled for March 23. New moves may be coming from the CHP to increase participation. Here are the details...
The expectation of low turnout in the CHP's presidential candidate primary election, to be held on March 23, due to it being a single-candidate race, has prompted the party leadership to take action.
While it is anticipated that member interest in the voting to be held at provincial and district centers will be low, it has been learned that various incentives are being considered to overcome this issue.
CONCERN THAT ''PARTICIPATION MAY NOT EXCEED 30 PERCENT''
Sources close to the CHP suggest that due to the impact of the month of Ramadan, the voter turnout rate may not exceed 30 percent.
The headquarters had initially planned the voting process between 09:00 in the morning and 17:00 in the evening. However, it is stated that new methods are being worked on following increasing signs that participation will remain low.
In this context, the option of continuing the voting process after iftar has come to the agenda. Additionally, a proposal to distribute symbolic gifts to voters at provincial and district centers has also been put on the table.
According to a report by the Sabah newspaper, suggestions were presented to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel to organize events that would increase interest on election day.
It is stated that the party leadership is preparing to mobilize all its resources to prevent the turnout rate from remaining low.
