Another scandal added to Ankapark: Look how much was spent on a talking robot that resembles Melih Gökçek

A new scandal has emerged regarding the Ankapark project, which was built during the term of former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Melih Gökçek and left to rot with a massive budget of 801 million dollars.

The whereabouts of a robot specifically designed and commissioned for Gökçek still cannot be traced.

HOW MUCH MONEY WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE TALKING ROBOT?

According to a report by Sözcü, it has been documented that 127 thousand liras (87,500 dollars at the exchange rate of the time) excluding VAT were paid for the robot, which was purchased in 2014 under the name "Talking Model Game System."

The robot, which is worth 3 million TL in today's conditions, was ordered for the promotion of Ankapark, but it is stated that it was put into storage without ever being used.

In the investigations carried out after Mansur Yavaş took office, it was revealed that the robot was not in the warehouse either.

INVOICE DETAILS ACCESSED

According to the invoice details, the robot was supplied within the scope of the "Purchase of 9 Items of Toys to be Used in the Atatürk Forest Farm Zoo Renovation Area."

The robot, whose English name is "Talking Model Game System," is defined in Turkish as "Konuşan Manken Oyun Sistemi." Its features include projecting a moving and talking face image onto the face of a mannequin in a display case.

The robot, which was taken to the mayoral office at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and then placed in the Ankapark promotional tent, was never used in any promotional event. While the Mansur Yavaş administration has launched an investigation into the fate of the robot, its location has not been determined to date.
