Arm-wrestling behind the scenes... Disagreement in the People's Alliance over the 'Opening' and 'İmamoğlu'! Actions are being taken despite one another
It has been claimed that a disagreement has emerged within the People's Alliance following the 'opening' process and the operations targeting İmamoğlu. A new, highly discussed claim has been put forward regarding these two processes. Here are the details...
The new opening process, officially restarted by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli in his speech at the parliamentary group podium, and the cancellation of the diploma of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu on March 19, followed by his detention and arrest, have become the most discussed topics in Turkish politics recently.
BAHÇELİ SAID 'HE SHOULD BENEFIT FROM THE RIGHT TO HOPE'
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, in his remarks at his party's group meeting regarding PKK leader Öcalan, stated, "Let him come to the DEM Party group meeting and announce that the PKK has been dissolved. And as a result, let him benefit from the right to hope." Following this call by Bahçeli, the shelved process was set in motion once again.
In the ongoing process, a DEM Party delegation held a meeting with PKK leader Öcalan. In his written statement, Öcalan called for the PKK to lay down its arms. However, no move to lay down arms has yet come from the PKK terrorist organization.
İMAMOĞLU IN PRISON
While everyone was wondering in which direction the new opening process would head, the university diploma of İBB Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu was first cancelled. Subsequently, İmamoğlu was arrested as a result of corruption allegations. Along with İmamoğlu, large-scale operations were also carried out by the government against the İBB.
Following these two developments, numerous claims were made that a crisis was occurring within the People's Alliance and that the parties were not satisfied with one another.
Most recently, Mümtaz'er Türköne, a figure close to Devlet Bahçeli, stated that if the resolution process does not proceed, an early election is inevitable. Although the MHP front denied Türköne's claims, it was suggested that a crisis was taking place within the alliance.
Finally, according to a report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü, the alliance partners have very different views on the issues of the 'opening process' and the operations against İmamoğlu.
According to Toprak's report, Erdoğan does not want the opening process and the process is being carried out despite Erdoğan.
He stated that Bahçeli does not approve of the operations against İmamoğlu, and that the AKP side is conducting the operations.
