Çeşme Mayor Lal Denizli shares the final words of Şehzadeler Mayor Gülşah Durbay
Çeşme Mayor Lal Denizli, a close friend of the late Şehzadeler Mayor Gülşah Durbay, who passed away after a 12-day struggle for life in intensive care, has shared her final words.
Gülşah Durbay, the 37-year-old mayor of the Şehzadeler district and the first female mayor of Manisa, had been fighting for her life in the intensive care unit at Manisa City Hospital for 12 days due to multiple organ failure caused by colon cancer. Durbay, who was recently placed on a ventilator, passed away, leaving her loved ones in deep mourning.
Following Durbay's passing, her close colleague and friend, Çeşme Mayor Lal Denizli, shared her grief.
"I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN LEFT IN A VAST VOID"
In a message where she also shared Durbay's final words from intensive care, Denizli wrote the following:
"About my Gülüm...
"We wrote a very tragic story, didn't we..." were among the last words you spoke in intensive care. You were right, and we cried silently with your mother and father at these words.
Our paths merged in the hope of the same journey from different cities. For years, we have been walking the path shoulder to shoulder with a passion for a bright future. Over the years, our journey as companions evolved first into friendship and then into sisterhood.
"YOU WERE BORN TO FIGHT, TO DEFY"
In the days when we were experiencing the happiest moments of our lives, there were very few moments we spent apart in the last 16 months since receiving the bad news, Gülşah.
You are the strongest woman I have ever seen in this life, my Gülüm. You are the person I admire who shattered statistics, overturned all conventional wisdom with your own truths, and never for a minute compromised your integrity or honesty. You would open your eyes wide, asking what I was saying, and look into my eyes because you tried to see my emotions rather than my words. You were born to fight, to defy, and you bid us farewell by fighting in a way that truly suited you.
I don't know what to say or what to do. I feel like I have been left in a vast void. While I was walking the great battle you fought alongside you, I am now left in the middle of a nothingness. Everyone is saying something, but I don't hear any of it. "Lâlitom, you've blocked your ears again; the hours where you only hear me have begun."
Oh, my Gülüm... I have no words to describe how my heart is burning. I am so glad that until your final moments, I never stopped telling you how much we loved you. I am so glad I held your soft hands. Now it falls to us to realize all the dreams we built together, one by one, in your name and with your light.
I am so incomplete.
May the Lord place you in the most beautiful corner of His paradise.
I will miss you so much, my dear sister.
I love you so much, my one and only.
My hand is in yours, Gülüm.
Lâliton."
