Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi evaluated the meetings held by the DEM Party İmralı Delegation and wrote that Öcalan would give a strong message to lay down arms.
Selvi argued that Öcalan did not make any personal requests. He also claimed that no demands regarding Syria were brought to the agenda.
Selvi listed the messages conveyed by the DEM Party delegation during their meetings with political parties as follows:
“1- They are conveying Öcalan’s assessment regarding the new Middle East and the new Syria. They say that terrorism must end.
2- They are not making any personal requests regarding Öcalan. They are not conveying any request from Öcalan.
3- The DEM delegation distinguishes the new process from the previous resolution process. They find this process more genuine and more realistic.
4- They are not making any demands regarding the PKK-YPG presence in Syria. They are not bringing up any demands for a confederation, federation, or autonomous administration in northern Syria. They want this structure to be taken as an interlocutor. They want an opportunity to be granted for democratic representation in Syria.
5- He is giving the message of ending terrorism and engaging in politics within the legitimate sphere.
6- They report that they will visit İmralı again after meeting with political parties. They say that this time, Öcalan will make a strong call regarding the laying down of arms.
7- They believe that Öcalan’s call will be effective on Qandil and the DEM Party.”
