Claims of a decision regarding İmamoğlu's diploma... Report completed: Will the diploma be cancelled?

The debate surrounding the diploma of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has taken on a new dimension. Following an examination conducted by Istanbul University, the potential revocation of İmamoğlu's diploma has come to the agenda.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

An investigation had been launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Republican People's Party (CHP) presidential candidate hopeful Ekrem İmamoğlu, based on allegations that his undergraduate diploma was fraudulent.

Within the scope of this investigation, Ekrem İmamoğlu's statement was taken on March 5. Denying the accusations, İmamoğlu said, "The accusation lacks a legal basis. It is unclear what I am being accused of. A report has been prepared that attempts to apply today's laws to 35 years ago.

According to this report, an accusation has been directed at me. Those who should be giving statements here today are the ones who prepared that report," he said.

SECOND LETTER SENT TO ISTANBUL UNIVERSITY

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sent a second letter to Istanbul University, requesting that the diploma examination be expedited. The university administration accelerated the process and conducted a detailed review.

Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to the diploma debate in statements he made in Bursa. İmamoğlu stated, "I am announcing here for the first time that there is an attempt to revoke the diploma before March 23.

Referring to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, he said, 'He is saying, "Let the diploma be revoked before March 23." He wants to prevent Ekrem from becoming a rival to me, he wants to cut off that day from today,'" he said.

CLAIMS THAT THE REPORT IS COMPLETED

According to a report by Tarık Işık from Nefes, it is alleged that Istanbul University has completed its diploma examination and that the report will be sent to the Faculty of Business Administration by Monday at the latest. It is claimed that the prepared report states that İmamoğlu's lateral transfer was contrary to regulations and that his diploma will be revoked for this reason.
