DEM Party's praise for Erdoğan continues: 'The speech was very important, he took ownership of the process'

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave notable messages at the AK Party camp in Kızılcahamam immediately following the PKK's disarmament ceremony.

Stating "We are opening a new page," Erdoğan announced that legal regulations would be made in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) within the scope of the resolution process and that a commission would be established in this framework.

Erdoğan gave a strong message of alliance regarding the process by saying, "AK Party, MHP, DEM, we have decided to walk this path together, at least as a trio."

Erdoğan also emphasized that an open-door policy would be followed for the progress of the process, using the expressions, "We provide every kind of convenience to those who take a step. We open the door wide for those seeking a way out."

DEM Party Mardin MP and Imralı delegation member Mithat Sancar explained the details of their meeting with President Erdoğan. Stating that Abdullah Öcalan had indicated he "attached great importance" to this meeting before it took place, Sancar said the following:

"Mr. Öcalan said he attached great importance to the meeting to be held with the President. He wanted the topics we chatted about to be shared. We conveyed Mr. Öcalan's assessments. We expressed our ideas regarding the stage the process has reached and what needs to be done from now on. The President listened to everything we told him and did not give a negative response."

Evaluating the messages in Erdoğan's Kızılcahamam speech, Sancar said, "It was further than what we have heard so far," and added:

"With the speech he made at the Kızılcahamam camp, he took ownership of this process. It contained messages that he would advance the process. He expressed it with his own terminology, but the messages in his speech were much further than what we have heard so far. For this reason, we can conclude that he will take ownership of the process in a more visible and active way."
