President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's signaling of change in both the party organization and the government following the heavy defeat in the 2024 local elections had drawn attention.

It was rumored that the next step in this change, which began in the party administration, would be the cabinet. However, according to insider information, the revision was postponed because Erdoğan had difficulty finding new names.

YERLİKAYA’S “CABINET” EMPHASIS DREW ATTENTION

The recent statement made by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya regarding operations against cybercrimes has reignited discussions about a cabinet reshuffle.

In his statement, Yerlikaya said, "During this cabinet term, assets totaling 16 billion 603 million TL have been seized within the scope of the fight against cybercrimes." The emphasis on "cabinet term" in this statement was interpreted by the public as a signal of change.

According to information obtained from AKP insiders by Merve Kılıç of Cumhuriyet, the change in the cabinet will take place after the Eid al-Adha holiday. Party sources speaking to Cumhuriyet newspaper stated that they would part ways with some ministers, especially those who have completed 2 years in office and whose performance has been found insufficient by Erdoğan.

While it is stated that the change could cover 5 ministers, it is rumored that the seats of critical figures such as Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, and Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu are shaky.

According to evaluations within the party, there is no desire to keep figures seen as "low-energy and passive" in the cabinet. In this context, the party will bid farewell to those whose terms have expired but who have failed to leave a strong impression on the public.

MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT WILL NOT BE APPOINTED TO THE CABINET

According to another piece of information circulating in the corridors, there will be no transfers from the parliament to the cabinet due to constitutional amendment efforts. It is stated that this decision was taken to ensure strong coordination for the constitution in the Parliament.
