Erdoğan's former advisor rebels: 'Öcalan must be stopped'

Discussions regarding the new resolution process, dubbed "Terror-Free Turkey," which came to the agenda following the remarks made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey last year, continue.

While various claims regarding the details of the process have emerged, a notable statement has recently come from Prof. Dr. İzzet Özgenç, a former legal advisor to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Making a statement via his social media account, Özgenç claimed that the legal regulation that will determine the future of members of the PKK terrorist organization will be prepared in line with the views of terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Reacting to this development, Özgenç used the expression, "It is time to stand up to put a stop to this course of events."

Following İzzet Özgenç's post, Zafer Party Chairman Prof. Dr. Ümit Özdağ also supported Özgenç's statement and made a notable assessment. In his statement on social media, Özdağ included the following remarks:

"Prof. Dr. İzzet Özgenç, who also served as criminal law advisor to President Erdoğan, has stated that Öcalan's views will be consulted during the drafting of the law regarding the amnesty of PKK members and their participation in social and political life. If a criminal law professor is now saying 'it is time to stand up,' it means the time has long since come for patriotic AK Party and MHP members to think."
