Explosive behind-the-scenes details on Özlem Gürzel, who 'transferred' from CHP to AKP: There was a disagreement

Beykoz Deputy Mayor Özlem Gürzel has resigned from the CHP and joined the AKP. 

Gürzel's move has caused a major stir behind the scenes, with the reaction of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu drawing particular attention. Gürzel's switch to the AKP has become a significant turning point for both the Beykoz Municipality and the political balance in Istanbul.

It has been alleged that before the election, the CHP did not trust Gürzel and therefore did not want to nominate her as a candidate. 

However, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently facing legal proceedings, insisted on Özlem Gürzel being elected as deputy mayor. According to the claims, the CHP administration had planned to appoint someone else as deputy mayor following the detention of Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler. 

However, when they informed Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was in prison, of the situation as a matter of courtesy, İmamoğlu insisted that Gürzel be elected deputy mayor.

A short time later, Özlem Gürzel resigned from the CHP and joined the AKP. This move by Gürzel was met with great astonishment, particularly within İmamoğlu's inner circle. 

According to a report by Nefes, when İmamoğlu was informed of Gürzel's switch to the AKP,the İBB Mayor reacted to the situation.He expressed his feelings. Regarding Gürzel's switch to the AKP,İmamoğlu stated,"Ms. Özlemsurprised and saddened me..." he said.
