First clue about the commission comes from AKP's Mustafa Şen: There is also a 'return home' regulation for PKK members!

The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as part of the process for a Turkey without terrorism, held its 19th meeting. The commission met for the first time following the visit to İmralı Prison.

The meeting was marked by the evaluations to emerge following the visit last week by a delegation consisting of AKP Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman, MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız, and DEM Party Group Deputy Chairman Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.

İMRALI MEETING TO BE CONVEYED TO THE COMMISSION

It was reported that detailed information regarding the meeting held in İmralı would be provided to the commission members. The content of the meeting and topics regarding the contacts are expected to be addressed during the session.

“RETURN HOME” REGULATION IN THE REPORT

AKP Deputy Chairman and Commission Member Mustafa Şen announced that the report the AKP will present to the commission will include regulations regarding a “return home” law for members of the terrorist organization PKK.

Şen stated that the regulation prepared by the party will distinguish between those who have been involved in crimes and those who have not. It was noted that a 5-year judicial monitoring requirement would also be introduced for those who may benefit from the regulation.

The prepared regulation also plans to include sentence reductions in a way that will not offend the public conscience. Mustafa Şen made the following statements regarding the matter:

“If individuals involved in terrorist activities are present in Turkey, the relevant articles of the Turkish Penal Code will continue to apply. Due to the organization dissolving itself and surrendering its weapons, we are proposing a sentence reduction that will not hurt the public conscience.”
