Osman Gökçek, who punched CHP member Mahmut Tanal, shared a photo of himself shaking hands with President Erdoğan on his social media account after the attack. This post increased curiosity about the President's stance toward Gökçek.

At the AKP's Extended Provincial Chairs meeting, President Erdoğan also used harsh language toward some of his party's deputies. Describing the protests by CHP deputies against Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek as "rudeness against the national will," Erdoğan said, "They lack a democratic understanding. It is ingrained in their very marrow. Just as we did yesterday, we will stand tall against aggressive actions directed at the sanctuary of the Gazi Parliament in the future as well."

WAS OSMAN GÖKÇEK SUPPORTED?

However, President Erdoğan's attitude toward Osman Gökçek continues to spark debate. Sözcü TV Ankara Representative Aslı Kurtuluş Mutlu stated that in addition to the President's harsh rhetoric toward the CHP, he is also uncomfortable with some deputies from his own party.

Mutlu said, "President Erdoğan may have used harsh expressions toward the main opposition; however, he is also uncomfortable with the actions of some deputies from his own party, including capital city deputy Osman Gökçek and others."

Osman Gökçek, for his part, shared the photo of himself shaking hands with Erdoğan on his social media account. Adding the note, "We came together with our esteemed President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after the AK Party Extended Provincial Chairs Meeting" under the photo, Gökçek implied with this post that the President had stood by him. AKP circles also defended this situation, stating that Erdoğan had supported Gökçek.
