Identity of suspect who set fire to a White Toros in front of Parliament revealed: Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu detail draws attention

A striking incident occurred in Ankara today ahead of a committee meeting scheduled at Parliament. A White Toros brand vehicle was set on fire in front of the Parliament building. The fire was extinguished in a short time, and the driver was taken into custody in connection with the incident. An investigation into the matter has been launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

The suspect who carried out the act was identified as Mehmet Emin Fidan. Fidan wearing a T-shirt featuring a photograph of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu during the act also became a topic of discussion.

While Fidan has no current employment record, it was noted that he may be the owner of a business operating in Mersin called "Fidanoğlu Auto Scrap and Spare Parts." Security sources reported that Fidan has been receiving psychiatric treatment and has a history of numerous criminal records.

It was learned that he engaged in provocative behavior at the funeral of Martyr Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Murat Tutal in 2006, had connections to an organized crime group known as the "Cinali Group" in 2007, and was in contact with individuals involved in loan sharking activities in 2025.

Fidan's criminal history is notable. He was found to have records for 16 different crimes, including theft, motor vehicle theft, forgery of official documents, establishing a criminal organization, threats, defamation, auto theft, and intentionally endangering general safety. It was reported that he was incarcerated at the Ceyhan M-Type Closed Penal Institution in 2017 and that some of his cases are still ongoing.

The Ministry of Interior claimed that Fidan carried out the act due to expectations of a Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) reduction. In a statement made on the Ministry's X account, it was stated that Fidan works in the scrap business in Mersin, has 12 scrap vehicles registered in his name, and set the vehicle on fire after failing to benefit from an ÖTV reduction. The statement also noted that Fidan has been receiving psychiatric treatment, has carried out similar acts in the past, and that a comprehensive investigation is ongoing.
