New details of the agreement in Syria revealed: Will the YPG be dissolved, and will PKK members leave the region?

The agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian central government in northern Syria will be among the most discussed topics in the coming days.

According to behind-the-scenes information reported by journalist Nuray Babacan, the YPG will be completely dismantled as part of the agreement, and PKK members present in the region will leave Syria.

The negotiations, which are said to have been closely monitored and guided by Turkish intelligence units from the very beginning, lasted for months. According to Babacan's article, the Syrian central government has signed an agreement that almost entirely takes over the administration of the region under YPG control.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE YPG AND PKK MEMBERS?

One of the most striking articles of the agreement stands out as the complete dissolution of the YPG and the transformation of the PYD into a political party.

According to what Babacan reported, all YPG elements will be integrated into the Syrian army, and they will not be allowed to operate in groups in specific regions. It was clearly conveyed to the Syrian side that a different approach would mean a "parallel army."

On the other hand, it has been decided that all PKK-linked armed elements in the region will leave Syria. Turkish intelligence sources state that there are at least 3 thousand non-Syrian armed elements in the YPG region.

It is known that these individuals are not accepted by the Kurdistan Regional Government in Northern Iraq, and that Turkey is completely opposed to them. According to the agreement, these elements will be sent to different countries, and their collective movement will be prevented.

THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE AGREEMENT WERE LAID IN JORDAN

According to Babacan's article, the foundation of the agreement, which the public heard about yesterday, was laid at the "Neighbors of Syria" meeting held in Jordan on December 14. Turkish intelligence sources suggest that the process was already being guided before the recent call by terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan that "the PKK should lay down its arms and dissolve itself."

The details of the agreement also include the transfer of oil and gas resources in the region, as well as airports, security institutions, prisons, camps, and mines to the central government. It is stated that the parties have been given a 9-month period for the full implementation of the agreement.
