Now an Atatürk rift in the People's Alliance: Reaction from Bahçeli's advisor to AK trolls

Yıldıray Çiçek, advisor to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, has reacted sharply to the attacks against Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey.

In an article he penned for the MHP's publication, Türkgün Newspaper, Çiçek called on those who "give face to Atatürk's enemies to pull themselves together."

REFERENCED ERDOĞAN'S WORDS

Recalling the statement by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, "We are equally opposed to insulting expressions directed at Gazi Mustafa Kemal," Çiçek stated that these words were a "heavy Ottoman slap to those who pose as close to the government on social media, wear an Ottoman mask, and engage in hostility toward Atatürk."

Çiçek evaluated the arrest of Furkan Bölükbaşı, known for insulting Atatürk, as an "appropriate decision." However, he emphasized that no action had been taken in the past against Bölükbaşı's statements targeting Atatürk.

"THE GREATEST HARM IS DONE TO THE GOVERNMENT"

Using harsh language in his article, Çiçek said, "The past attitudes and polarizing rhetoric of some figures who stand out on social media with a pro-government identity are actually causing the greatest harm to the government itself."

Çiçek stated, "The only thing produced by those who show hostility toward Atatürk under the guise of being an imam, a troll, a historian, a commentator, or a writer is filth."

"THE JUDICIARY MUST BE UNCOMPROMISING"

Çiçek stated that following Erdoğan's recent remarks, the judiciary must now act without compromise in the face of such attacks.

He included the following statements in his article:

"After President Erdoğan's statements, it is now a necessity for the judiciary to fulfill its duty without compromise in the face of insults made against Atatürk, and for those within the government circle who give face to these individuals to pull themselves together."
