PKK leader Öcalan continues his 'Letters Series': He targets the nation-state!

PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who called on the terrorist organization to lay down its arms and dissolve itself in a letter he wrote, continues his letter-writing efforts from Imralı. Expected to send a letter for Nevruz, Öcalan wrote a letter to the Yazidis before that. Seeking support for the process, Öcalan once again targeted the nation-state.

Terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan is continuing his 'letter series,' which began with a call to arms, without slowing down. Writing a letter from Imralı this time for the Yazidis, Öcalan said, "This process will be, above all, a Renaissance for the Yazidis," and requested support from them. He once again targeted the nation-state structure.

Emphasizing "free and communal living" in the letter sent to the Yazidis, Öcalan stated, "The Yazidis must be an active force in the struggle for democratization and the construction of a democratic society."

Öcalan's letter is as follows:

"ATTACKS BY THE NATION-STATE MENTALITY..."

The history of our Yazidi people is a history tested by massacres and exiles, by great pain and persecution. The Yazidis are one of the oldest faiths and most ancient societies of Mesopotamia. They have paid a great price to protect their own culture, identity, and existence. The tragedies they have experienced are etched into the collective conscience not only of our Yazidi people but of humanity.

Throughout history, they have been subjected to attacks, but despite everything, they have managed to resist and survive. In the last century, as a result of the attacks of nation-state mentalities, massacres amounting to genocides occurred. The massacre in Sinjar in 2014 is a continuation of this mentality that aims to eliminate the existence of the Yazidis. However, this time our Yazidi people quickly met with the struggle for freedom, organized, and began to resist. This is how they developed a historical opposition to the massacre. The participation of women in this resistance is quite significant. A process of building their future with their own hands has begun.

"A FUTURE WHERE PEOPLES LIVE EQUALLY AND FREELY..."

The future of our Yazidi people will be shaped according to the principle of a democratic society based on their own inherent power and democratic will. A social organization must be developed where they can freely practice their faith. Building a democratic system at the stage we have imagined and reached is of vital importance for the protection and continuation of their historical existence.

On the basis of a democratic society perspective, a future where peoples live equally and freely can be built. The Yazidi must be an active force in the struggle for democratization based on free and communal living and in the construction of a democratic society. No approach that does not recognize the freedom of our Yazidi people or ignores them is legitimate. Our Yazidi people must secure their future by organizing in every area where they are present. It is the common responsibility of all our peoples to struggle for a democratic, free, and equal life.

REQUESTED SUPPORT FROM YAZIDIS FOR THE PROCESS

On this occasion, I salute the struggle of our Yazidi people. I would like to express that I support their demands for freedom under all circumstances. The freedom of the Yazidis is intertwined with the freedom of the peoples of the Middle East. In this sense, the Call for Peace and a Democratic Society is also an answer to the 73 Yazidi edicts. The process we have initiated will, most of all, ensure the existence and freedom of our Yazidi people. This call is a Renaissance, and it will be, above all, a Renaissance for our Yazidi people. This process will reach success through common sentiment and struggle. I send my infinite greetings once again.
