Striking claim regarding Muharrem İnce: 'He requested support from Ekrem İmamoğlu twice'

Muharrem İnce, the founder and Chairman of the Homeland Party (Memleket Partisi), officially returned to the Republican People's Party (CHP), which he described as his "father's hearth," in recent weeks. While İnce's participation in the CHP Group Meeting made his return official, discussions regarding the background of this return have flared up behind the scenes.

EKREM İMAMOĞLU INVITED İNCE TO THE PARTY

Journalist Barış Yarkadaş made striking statements about İnce's return process on the "Taksim Meydanı" program broadcast on TGRT. Yarkadaş said, "Özgür Özel's inner circle did not want to accept Muharrem İnce into the party. But the person who invited İnce to the party was Ekrem İmamoğlu."

"I WANT TO DIE AS A CHP MEMBER"

According to Yarkadaş, Muharrem İnce met with Ekrem İmamoğlu twice to return to the CHP. The first meeting took place before İmamoğlu's conviction. During the meeting, İnce used emotional language, saying, "I want to die as a CHP member, I want to return to my party." İmamoğlu responded to this request by saying, "I will talk to Chairman Özgür."

Yarkadaş also stated that Özgür Özel's colleagues did not look favorably upon İnce's return. According to Yarkadaş, the view that "If İnce comes, he will immediately become a candidate for the chairmanship or the presidency and wear us out" was prevalent within the party. Some figures thought that İnce's powerful oratory and potential to mobilize crowds were a risk.

THE "LET THE PRIMARY PASS, THEN WE WILL TAKE HIM" FORMULA

Explaining that İnce met with İmamoğlu a second time to reiterate his request, Yarkadaş stated that during this process, Ekrem İmamoğlu had a primary election decision made within the party. Stating that the formula "Let's take Muharrem İnce after the primary election passes" was produced, Yarkadaş said, "They were concerned that if İnce became a candidate in the primary and Mr. Ekrem became banned, the person who came in second would automatically become the candidate."

Barış Yarkadaş also reacted to the fact that Muharrem İnce, who was accepted back into the CHP after this entire process, was not called to the podium at the group meeting. Yarkadaş used the expressions, "They made Muharrem wait for quite a while and wore him out. It is a great shame that they did not call him up there today and let him speak."
