Terrorist leader Öcalan's call for dissolution causes turmoil among terrorists: 'How can he not listen to Abdullah Öcalan...'

Critical developments are taking place in the new resolution process that began with the call from MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli. Following Bahçeli's statement at his parliamentary group meeting, 'Let the terrorist leader come to the DEM Party group meeting and announce that terrorism has been abolished. In return, let him benefit from the right to hope,' the terrorist leader Öcalan finally released a written statement.

The ringleader of the PKK terrorist organization, Öcalan, had stated that the PKK should dissolve itself. Following this statement, a declaration was made by the terrorist organization saying, 'We will not attack anyone as long as there is no attack on us.'

Following these developments, Nefes columnist Aytunç Erkin drew attention to the different statements coming from the terrorist organizations PKK and YPG after Öcalan's call.

Following Abdullah Öcalan's statement, 'All groups should lay down their arms,' Mazlum Abdi, speaking on behalf of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is formed by the backbone of the PKK/YPG terrorist organization, said that this call 'was not about the Kurds in Syria, but about Turkey's internal politics.' Participating in a meeting of a press club in Washington via video conference, Abdi used the following expressions: 'The call was not directly for our region. The relationship between the PKK and Turkey and the establishment of peace will also have an impact on our region.'

The second statement…

Former co-chair of the PKK/PYD, Salih Muslim, said in a statement to Al Arabiya, 'We agree with Abdullah Öcalan's statements. If we are allowed to operate as a political group, we will lay down our arms.'

You must have noticed the contradiction between Mazlum Abdi and Salih Muslim. One did not take the call upon himself, while the other welcomed it.

I am among those who think that these statements might be more meaningful when read through the lens of YPG/Israel relations.

Among the allegations are that there is 'grumbling' within the PYD/YPG regarding Abdi, who responded to Öcalan's call by saying, 'The call was not directly related to our region,' and that criticisms are being made, asking, 'How can he not listen to Abdullah Öcalan?'

According to experts, Israel actually sees the Kurds as a buffer between itself and its enemies. The crude oil extracted from here is one of the most important resources for Israel, which is in need of fuel.

At a rally held for Öcalan in Cologne on September 28, 2024, Israeli flags were unfurled. On November 10, immediately after Erdoğan announced that preparations were being made for new ground operations against the PKK in Syria and Iraq, Israel's new Foreign Minister Gideon Saar called the Kurds 'one of the great nations without political independence' and 'a natural ally of the Jews.' In December, Saar also said, 'Although Israel has not taken military action to defend the Kurds, supporting them is a moral and diplomatic obligation. The Kurds are a pro-Western and friendly group, and we must stand by them.'

It is useful to recall this news from Rudaw dated January 3, 2025: 'The Israeli press reported that Foreign Minister Saar held a phone call with Ilham Ahmed, an official from the Rojava Autonomous Administration. In a report based on Israeli officials, the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom announced that Foreign Minister Gideon Saar held a comprehensive phone call with Ilham Ahmed, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Office of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. In the meeting where developments in the region were discussed, Ahmed provided information about arbitrary arrests and executions of Kurdish citizens by armed groups in Syria. Minister Saar stated that he expressed his concerns about the Kurds in all diplomatic meetings he held with his international counterparts.'

On February 25, when asked about the messages from the Israeli government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the support for the regions under the control of the SDF and the rights of Kurds in Syria, Mazlum Abdi replied: 'This was true and a proper stance. This is related to their own policies. However, we appreciate these statements.'

Yes; the organization represented by Mazlum Abdi, namely the SDF (PKK/YPG), trusts Israel/USA, but look at what happened to Ukrainian leader Zelensky just last week! The famous quote by former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who is considered the 'embodiment' of American foreign policy, 'It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be its friend is fatal,' also remains in memory...
