The detail from the Erdoğan-Shara meeting has emerged: What did Ahmed Shara ask of Turkey?
It has been alleged that in the talks conducted between Ankara and Damascus, an agreement was reached on the supply of offensive and defensive weapons to the Syrian army, as well as the appointment of a Turkish officer as an advisor to the Syrian Ministry of Defense. According to information obtained from security sources, it has been reported that Ankara will begin the process of supplying the Damascus administration with advanced offensive and defensive weapons.
It was conveyed that the prepared arms package includes fighter jets, air defense systems, and armored land vehicles. It was stated that this support would play a critical role in the restructuring process of the Syrian army.
SUPPORT FROM TURKEY TO DAMASCUS
On the other hand, it was noted that the appointment of a high-ranking Turkish officer as a military advisor to the Syrian Ministry of Defense is being planned. The advisor in question is expected to provide support to Damascus, particularly in the areas of army restructuring and strategic planning.
It was stated that this proposal was brought to the agenda by the Damascus administration. It was expressed that the proposal, which would deepen military cooperation between Turkey and Syria, was conveyed to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during Syrian President Ahmed Shara's official visit to Ankara on February 4.
AGREEMENT REACHED
It was claimed that during the Erdoğan-Shara meeting held at the Presidential Complex, the parties reached an agreement on the method for determining a joint roadmap. According to sources, Turkey and Syria aim to work in coordination, particularly on issues of counter-terrorism, border security, and the restructuring of the Syrian army.
Supporting steps toward democratization in Syria and accelerating the cooperation process to eliminate regional security threats were also among the topics mentioned during the talks.
