Pervin Buldan, a member of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) İmralı delegation, made evaluations regarding the meeting they held with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan on December 28.

'IT IS NOT RIGHT TO CALL IT A PROCESS'

JIN TV, speaking via a phone connection, stated that it would not be correct to call the meetings held a process, adding, "I want to express that there is still a search underway. Mr. Öcalan stated that 'if this issue is to be resolved, it must be resolved in the parliamentary environment and supported by laws to be enacted,' but before that, the views and criticisms of the chairmen of the political parties with groups in parliament regarding how they approach this issue would be very valuable. Buldan continued her words as follows:

"It is worth stating that Mr. Öcalan is determined, at the very least, to have this issue resolved through democratic methods and to initiate a process of peace, brotherhood, and democratization. However, as you also said, even if there were determination on the government side, I can also say that there are still some problems regarding the language, the tone, and the approach to the process. It is worth noting that the government is still wavering on this issue in many respects. Yet, they themselves know Mr. Öcalan's approach to the subject.

We express his determination and clear stance on this issue both in the statement we made and in the meetings we held with him. Being cautious applies to both sides. Everyone is approaching the issue with caution. This is true for Mr. Öcalan as well, and it is true for the government. Because none of us know what might happen after the second and third meetings.

'ÖCALAN WILL HAVE A SPECIAL CALL TO WOMEN'
